Chapters 1 and 2

Why did Fern feel that it was unfair for her father to kill the runt pig?  Why did Wilbur have to find a new home (at the end of Chapter 2)?

  1. Fern thought it was unfair to kill the pig because she thought everyone should be able to have a life. Wilbur had to find a new home because Wilbur was getting old enough to sell. Fern got to keep the pig because she made her dad not kill the pig which made her dad give the pig to her. Fern's dad made a little house for Wilbur outside under an apple tree. When Wilbur was a baby Fern put Wilbur in her doll carriage.
